“When we were born, the Nation had long existed The Nation was in the ‘once upon a time’ tales Mother used to tell…”
For our Grade 5 SenTians, “The Nation” is not just found in textbook lessons; it is also felt and expressed through their own thoughts, emotions, and creativity in the interdisciplinary project “Proud of Vietnam.”
The Grade 5 SenTians took everyone on a “time machine,” traveling back to the 1940s and 1950s. Throughout that journey, the beauty of the Vietnamese people, nature, and the values of Vietnamese art and culture were vividly portrayed.
This project was a golden opportunity for the students to showcase the knowledge and skills they have acquired throughout the curriculum. Teachers empowered SenTians to participate in every stage of the project across various subjects:
– Vietnamese Language: Students applied poems from their curriculum and brought them to life on stage. From the image of the young hero Lượm to the “Rice Grains of Our Village” dance performance, and even the historic moment of tanks crashing through the gates of Independence Palace, the SenTians recreated these scenes, evoking a whirlwind of emotions for the audience.
– ICT: The students surprised everyone by creating animated films about Vietnamese history using AI technology, making historical events more vivid and engaging than ever.
– Mathematics: SenTians used coordinate systems, grids, and ordered pairs to locate cities. They also collected, organized, and represented data through line graphs showing key achievements—such as rice and coffee production—to visualize the country’s development.
– Arts: Parents were deeply impressed by the lanterns made of traditional “Dó” paper, decorated with bold Vietnamese motifs, alongside meticulously designed ethnic costumes.
– Science: Models of famous Hanoi landmarks were recreated intuitively using knowledge of light and shadows.
– English: One of the most impressive highlights of this year’s project is the showcase of the International Academic Programme. “What Peace Means to Me” is a theme that connects the past to the present and looks ahead to the future. Students had the opportunity to express their perspectives in a variety of creative ways—through news-style reports on social issues, as well as thoughtful reflections on what peace truly means.
Students showcased their language skills through an X-Factor–inspired activity. Six teams rewrote the English lyrics of familiar songs to share stories about peace, Vietnam, and family, and confidently performed their pieces on stage.
In addition, our younger students translated poems about their homeland into English, helping to bring the beauty of Vietnam closer to friends around the world.
“Proud of Vietnam” is therefore more than just a project title; it is a journey where Grade 5 SenTians learn to connect knowledge with real life, helping them love, understand, and feel even prouder of their motherland.
We invite parents to look back at the memorable moments from the Grade 5 SenTians’ project presentation!
