[Grade 4 Interdisciplinary Learning Project] Childhood grows up from “In mother’s song”

“Mom, in your gentle songs,A whole lifetime slowly appears.Your lullabies give me wings to dream,So one day, I can fly far.”

In the lullabies of our grandmothers and mothers lie countless lessons that quietly accompany children as they grow. They are the very first seeds of love — love for family, teachers, friends, and a deeper love for labor, homeland, and country. A mother’s song is where the earliest lessons of every child’s life begin.

And today, as we grow a little older, we — the Grade 4 SenTians — would love to send our heartfelt gratitude to our mothers and families through loving melodies and meaningful learning products created with all our sincerity and care.

Vietnamese Language

Poems and stories about family and love for our country were brought to life on stage through musical performances, as well as original poems written by the students themselves.

Visual Arts & Geography

Paintings created on traditional dó paper, combined with knowledge of Vietnamese geography, beautifully expressed the students’ love for a peaceful and beautiful homeland.

ICT

Through short story videos themed “Family,” students shared their gratitude and affection for their loved ones in creative and heartfelt ways.

Mathematics

By applying knowledge of 3D shapes, rectangles, area, and perimeter, students designed a “Memory Box” — a special place to preserve meaningful memories shared between mother and child.

Science

Science lessons helped students understand how living things grow and change over time, illustrated through life-cycle models of animals such as storks, buffaloes, and humans.

English

Through an English drama performance, students confidently stepped onto the stage to tell a touching story of a mother’s love across time — from the gentle care of mothers and grandmothers in the past, to mothers accompanying their children in the present, and finally, to the children’s promise of love and care for their mothers in the future.

Students also worked together to rewrite English song lyrics and created the song “Count on Her”, inspired by “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars, as a heartfelt gift to the women they love.

In English classes, students composed acrostic poems based on the word “MOTHER”, with each letter representing a meaningful message, allowing them to express their emotions in creative and joyful ways.

Parents shared emotionally after the project:

“The children made us feel like we were returning to our own childhood, listening again to familiar lullabies from our mothers and grandmothers. Throughout the project preparation, we could clearly see positive changes in our children — they became more caring, more loving, and more confident in expressing their feelings toward their mothers.”
