Engineering is often considered a diverse field that is important in developing technology and solving social problems. To help SenTians have a more comprehensive view of this field of study, the school invited Ms. Jessica Lo, an experienced expert and currently a senior manager at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, to share in the workshop “Understanding the Engineering”.
The workshop consisted of three main parts: introduction to majors, requirements, and difficulties and advantages when studying. In particular, when talking about majors at school, Ms. Jessica also gave examples and analyses, helping us visualize our future study path more clearly.
What impressed me the most was the dynamism of engineering students. It turns out that studying engineering is not dry and only related to research. They also participate in many activities such as basketball, and soccer, and especially competitions such as homemade car racing, software development, and technology solutions. Moreover, we also learned more about entry requirements such as language certificates or academics. Not only that, to study well in the engineering field, we need to develop logical thinking, carefulness, meticulousness, eagerness to learn, and especially diligence and patience when researching or solving complex problems.
With the desire to bring special values exclusively to high school students, SenTia has organized many talkshows and workshops on studying abroad and career orientation. These programs provide useful information about study programs and career trends and help students explore themselves more deeply. Thanks to the practical sharing from the speakers, I have found a strong source of inspiration and motivation to define specific goals and outline the future path more clearly and confidently.
