Last Friday, we had an amazing field trip to the Tam Dao Bear Rescue Centre.
First, the guides showed us how to distinguish between Asiatic Black Bears (Moon Bears) with their white neck crescents and Sun Bears. Next, the whole class visited the semi-wild enclosures—home to some incredibly cute bears. Everyone was thrilled to watch them roaming freely: some were lazily napping on wooden swings, others were busy foraging for food hidden in rock crevices, and two were even tumbling and playing on the lush green grass.

The most special part was walking past three old containers. The guides told us that these were once cramped, illegal cages used for bear bile farming. Now, they’ve been “given a new look” as vibrant information rooms. After saying goodbye to the bears, we took a short trek through the forest to admire the brilliant blooming rhododendrons.
During the trip, we also got to see animal specimens. I was most impressed by the tiger specimen because it looked so majestic and powerful. Finally, the whole class hopped back on the bus to head home.
It was such a fun and meaningful trip. Let’s join hands to protect wildlife and their natural habitats!
