Grade 6 students went on a 2-day, 1-night field trip to Thai Hai (Thai Nguyen) – a village recognized as the “Best Tourism Village in the World 2022.” This trip was not only about exploring nature but also an opportunity to experience the unique culture of the Tay people.
As the youngest students in secondary school, this was our first time eating, sleeping, and doing activities together. From our overloaded backpacks and suitcases to the lively conversations on the bus, everything made the trip more exciting and memorable.
Our first stop was the historical site of Youth Volunteer Unit 915, where we paid tribute to the young volunteers who sacrificed their lives. In the solemn atmosphere, we offered incense and listened to meaningful stories, helping us appreciate the value of peace today.

When we arrived at Thai Hai Village, we were welcomed by simple stilt houses surrounded by lush greenery. In the afternoon, we explored Tay culture: washing our hands at the village well, striking the wooden bell before entering the village, and visiting a special market where people exchange goods without money. We also enjoyed grilled sweet potatoes, green tea, che lam (a traditional sweet), and listened to Then singing – a truly new and fascinating experience.

The evening was the most memorable part of the trip. We cooked our own meals, made fires, boiled vegetables, and grilled chicken. Even though we were a little clumsy, everyone was enthusiastic and full of laughter. Later, we gathered around the campfire, held hands, danced bamboo dances, and enjoyed the warm mountain atmosphere.

The next morning, Thai Hai looked peaceful with early dew, rooster calls, and green mountain ranges. We walked around, talked together, joined group activities, and even made five-colored bracelets – small gifts symbolizing luck in Tay culture.
As the journey ended, we not only learned more about the culture and people here but also created unforgettable memories with our friends and teachers. This will surely be one of the most meaningful and memorable journeys of our student life.
