“I’ve never performed at a school in front of students like this before,” shared jazz singer Quỳnh Phạm, her voice soft yet striking enough to surprise many.
Jazz — a genre rich in emotional depth and rarely heard in traditional school environments — took the stage during Gió Đầu Mùa 2025 – Winter Symphony at SenTia School in Hanoi. But it wasn’t in a grand concert hall or formal performance space; instead, jazz filled the heartwarming Christmas lights and festive energy of the school, surrounded by families, curious students, and eager eyes. It was a rare moment where students didn’t just listen to music, but began to experience art through their own emotions.

Gió Đầu Mùa is SenTia’s annual arts event. Now in its sixth season, this year’s program took on the theme Winter Symphony — a blend of music, light, and relatable emotional resonance. For SenTia, the event is more than an occasion; it’s a way for the arts to naturally become part of everyday school life.
Students weren’t just spectators. They had the chance to step outside their comfort zones — from performances to their first English-language play, The Little Match Girl, based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic. Each student faced very real fears — fear of mistakes, fear of forgetting lines, and fear of standing before a crowd. But on that winter evening, they chose to stand on stage, take ownership of their roles, and shine with confidence.

In the audience, many parents quietly observed their children growing — not through achievements, but through courage: the willingness to try, to risk error, and to keep going. In that moment, art was no longer about right or wrong, good or bad; it became a gentle education in resilience and self-belief.

For many families, Winter Symphony was also a special night together. Between artistic performances, parents and children walked through the festival space hand in hand, enjoyed Christmas-themed food, took year-end photos, and chatted without the rush of daily life. In the busy end-of-year period, this was a rare chance for families to truly be together.

When the show ended and the stage lights dimmed, the echoes of Winter Symphony lingered. Perhaps the most beautiful takeaway wasn’t the applause, but the moments when parents realized their children were growing — through art, through love, and through shared experiences with family and the community.
